The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident of what might be a possible cop impersonator in the town of Burlington, according to a news report by CBS 58 TV of Milwaukee.

According to the story, a 71-year-old Burlington area man was driving on Wisconsin Highway 36 Oct. 11 when he reported being stopped near Yahnke Road by what he thought was a police officer in a silver sedan with red and blue interior lights.

The man received a warning from the officer. After the stop, when the man couldn’t find his car keys, and was concerned the officer might not have given them back, he contacted the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, but was told a sheriff’s deputy did not perform the stop.

The man later discovered his keys in the car.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. If you have any information about the vehicle, contact the department at (262) 636-3318.
