Four more McHenry County residents contract West Nile virus
WOODSTOCK, Ill Since a Cary man was diagnosed with West Nile virus in September, four more McHenry County residents have contracted the mosquito-borne illness, according to a story in the Northwest Herald.
The five confirmed cases are among residents between 61 and 70 years old. Three of the five were hospitalized, but have returned home. A McHenry County Health Department spokesperson said tests were being conducted on several other residents suspected of having the virus.
There have been 185 human cases of the virus and seven deaths in Illinois so far this year, compared to 34 cases and three deaths in 2011.
