Zerban outraises Ryan in 3rd quarter
MADISON The relatively unknown Democratic challenger to Paul Ryan in his congressional race says he raised more money than the Republican vice presidential candidate.
Ryan reported Thursday that he raised $567,000 from July through September. His challenger Rob Zerban says he raised $770,000.
State law allows Ryan to run for both re-election to his 1st District Congressional seat and vice president, but if Mitt Romney is elected president Ryan would have to give up the seat he's held since 1999.
While Zerban outraised Ryan during the three-month period, Ryan still has $4 million cash on hand. Zerban has only raised about half that. He did not say how much cash he has on hand.
Ryan has been running ads for weeks in the Madison and Milwaukee markets, while Zerban has yet to run any.
