— Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is reporting having $4 million on hand for the final weeks of his other race — holding on to his southern Wisconsin congressional seat.

State law allows Ryan to run for both offices at the same time, but if Mitt Romney is elected president he would have to give up the congressional seat he's held since 1999.

Ryan reported the latest fundraising totals on Thursday, just hours before President Barack Obama was scheduled to host a rally on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Ryan reported raising nearly $567,000 in the third quarter for his congressional race against Democrat Rob Zerban.

Ryan has been running ads in the Madison and Milwaukee markets.

Ryan planned to be in Milwaukee on Saturday for a presidential race fundraiser.
