Dan and Tyler, found a match through Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Rock, Jefferson and Walworth Counties. Photo submitted.

DELAVAN -- Big Brothers Big Sisters is committed to matching children with adult mentors in order to help those children reach their full potential.

Dan and Tyler have been matched for one year. Tyler lives with his grandmother. He loves the opportunity to have a big brother who spends time with him in addition to grandma’s dedication to him.

Dan and Tyler enjoy playing outside together, building with LEGOs, eating at McDonald’s and even doing homework together. This past year has been a time of developing a friendship that benefits both Dan and Tyler.

You also can help a child facing difficult circumstances in his or her life by becoming a big brother or big sister. It takes a few hours of your time a week and the benefits are lifelong -- for both the child and the volunteer.

Two volunteer opportunities are offered:

-- In the community-based program, you can volunteer to spend time with a little brother or sister three to four times a month.

-- In the Lunch Buddies program, you can volunteer to spend the lunch hour with a child at school once a week throughout the school year.

To learn more about becoming a big brother or big sister, contact Karen or Pam at (262) 728-8865 or send an email to bbbskarenm@hotmail.com or bbbspam@hotmail.com.
