— A 70-year-old Illinois man was arrested after a two-car crash that happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 and Six Corners Road in the town of Walworth, according to a release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

Bernard Benjamin, of Des Plaines, Ill., was driving a 2004 Lincoln Navigator northbound on Six Corners Road when he allegedly failed to yield the right of way after stopping at the stop sign, according to the release.

Benjamin turned onto Highway 14 and struck a westbound 1998 Dodge Dakota truck, driven by Cristy L. Nuvy, 47, of Janesville. Nuvy suffered multiple injuries and was transported by ambulance to an unnamed area hospital.

Benjamin’s wife, Joann Benjamin, 65, also of Des Plaines, was a passenger in the Navigator. She was injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Bernard Benjamin was arrested and charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and failing to yield right of way from stop sign have been referred to the Walworth County district attorney’s office. He was booked and released from the Walworth County Jail.
