JANESVILLE What it is: A Madison-based company that specializes in senior living solutions plans to build an assisted living facility in Beloit.
Apara Care hopes to break ground on its Cherry Tree Assisted Living facility next spring and open it in the fall, said Janice Faga, Apara Care's chief executive officer.
The complex between Schuster Drive and Cranston Road on Beloit's north side will include 72 units.
Forty-eight units will be classified as a residential care apartment complex, and the other 24 will be in a community-based residential facility with a memory care center.
"The difference between the two really is the degree of specialized care and the hours they will be available," Faga said.
A common area that includes dining and administrative services will separate the two buildings, she said. The main entrance will be off Cranston Road.
Faga said the project would create 60 new jobs in the area.
She said Frieda Pulkowski, a Beloit native and Apara Care's vice president of operations, has been and will continue to be an integral player in the Beloit project.
"We believe Cherry Tree will be unlike any other facility in Rock County," Faga said, adding the facility's mission is to provide superior care that residents can afford.
Apara Care specializes in at-home nursing care, senior assisted living and senior living consulting solutions, including management, operations and development.
Faga said the company's "Health at Home" division currently serves Rock County residents who prefer to live at home but still need some form of assistance.
