Katie Villa capped off a record-setting season by being named first team All-Big Eight Conference in girls volleyball.

The Janesville Craig senior, who was a second-team pick as a sophomore and junior, set Craig High records for career and single-season assists. Villa finished her three-year varsity career with over 2,000 assists, including more than 1,000 this season.

"Katie had not only excellent volleyball skills, but she was a great leader on the court for us, as well," Craig coach Blake Budrow said. "She was our quarterback.

"A lot of times when I took a timeout, I would talk to the team first, and then go and talk to Katie one-on-one. She was such a smart player. Her skill level gave us a lot of different options both offensively and defensively."

Sun Prairie junior outside hitter Emily Chaussee, who led the Cardinals to the Division 1 state tournament, was named the Big Eight's Player of the Year.

Janesville Parker senior Ashley Hartwig was named to the second team.

Craig sophomore Ally Raymond, junior Ali Calkins and senior Regan Sitorius were honorable mention.
