— Superstorm Sandy impacted sales of Generac's generators so much, the company plans to add between 100 and 200 employees over the next year at its plants in Whitewater and a new facility in Jefferson, according to a story in the Business Journal.

The story noted the East Coast's demand for portable generators after the massive storm earlier this week was a deciding factor in Generac's purchase of a 252,500-square-foot facility in Jefferson, where the company expects to start production at the beginning of next year.

Some production lines will move to the Jefferson plant, and employees from Whitewater may move along with them, but the company is also planning to expand its capacity in Whitewater.
