Burlington bats crunch Beloit

— The Beloit Snappers were pounded with 14 hits Sunday in a 12-0 loss to the Burlington Bees in Midwest League baseball.

It was the Snappers’ third straight loss after enjoying a six-game winning streak.

Snappers’ starter Tim Shibuya (2-2) was pelted for eight runs on nine hits in the first 4 1-3 innings to take the loss. Beloit relievers David Hurlbut and Bart Carter combined to allow four runs on five hits the rest of the way.

Burlington clubbed Beloit with three runs in the second inning and four in the third for a 7-0 lead.

Bees’ starter Drew Granier (6-2) blanked the Snappers on three hits through the first 6 2-3 innings. The Snappers got one hit apiece off two Burlington relievers.
