The story identified the victim as John Brown.

Deputies were called to a home in Lyons just after midnight Saturday after a caller indicated her adult son was threatening suicide. When deputies approached the man, he threatened them and refused to put down the knife. A deputy fired his service weapon and struck Brown, according to the story.
