Woman faces trial in Spring Prairie man's overdose death
Lisa C. Jurgens, 28, Crystal Lake, Ill., faces an arraignment hearing Wednesday, March 14, in the death of Codie A. Krueger, 21, of Spring Prairie Township.
Jurgens faces a charge of first-degree reckless homicide by the delivery of drugs linked to Krueger's Aug. 11 death.
Krueger's mother found him dead with a syringe in his arm. An autopsy showed the cause of his death was a lethal injection of heroin.
A Walworth County Coroner's Office pathologist and an official from the Walworth County Drug Unit testified Wednesday at a preliminary hearing on the Jurgens case, said District Attorney Joshua Grube.
Police arrested Jurgens Aug. 2 after they found text messages in Krueger's cell phone that appeared to set up a heroin deal, according to a criminal complaint. Police used Krueger's phone to set up a drug buy at a gas station in Crystal Lake, Ill. Police arrested Jurgens at the gas station. She had heroin and a cell phone that had been used to send text messages to Krueger.
Jurgens admitted to being a heroin user and dealer and to selling two bags of heroin to Krueger on July 31, the day before he died, according to the criminal complaint.
