ELKHORN--The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is planning a construction project along U.S. Highway 12 between Wisconsin Highway 20 to the north and the U.S. 12/Wisconsin Highway 67 split to the south. Construction is currently scheduled to start in the beginning of April and be completed by the end of June. The project includes re-paving, signing, pavement marking and an updated beam guard.
U.S. Highway 12 will be constructed in two stages, with a detour being utilized for through-traffic.
During the first stage, U.S. Highway 12 will be closed from County Highway A to the southern U.S. 12/Wisconsin Highway 67 split for approximately six weeks.
The detour for this closing will be U.S. Highway 12 to Interstate 43 to Wisconsin Highway 20.
During the second stage, U.S. Highway 12 will be closed from Wisconsin Highway 20 to County Highway A for approximately six weeks.
The detour routes for this closing will be County Highway A to County Highway H, and County Highway A to Wisconsin Highway 89 for truck traffic. U.S. Highway 12 will remain open to local traffic to maintain access to businesses and residents adjacent to U.S. Highway 12 during construction.
