— Two new areas in Kenosha County have been confirmed for emerald ash borer: Pleasant Prairie and the Town of Wheatland, according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

On Wednesday, one of DATCP's trappers found seven adult beetles on a trap that she had placed in a cemetery near Slades Corners. The ash trees in that area looked healthy. Early detection may help save those trees if the owner chooses to try.

On Thursday, a DATCP specialist working with a landscaping contractor confirmed EAB at two locations in an industrial park near the intersection of 95th St. and 80th Ave. One heavily infested tree with EAB larvae was discovered in one location and an infested tree with live adult beetles present at another location. The two trees are approximately one mile apart and there are many ash trees in the area.

News and information about wide variety of EAB topics can be found at the Wisconsin Emerald Ash Borer website: www.emeraldashborer.wi.gov.
