— Process control and quality assurance workers at the Birds Eye Foods Inc. plant in Darien voted to join a union, according to a news story in the Business Journal.

Ten eligible year-round employees and 11 of 15 eligible seasonal employees participated in the vote to join the United Food and Commercial Workers union Local 1473.

The workers had said they wanted more input in plant operations and the ability to bring issues to management’s attention without fear of being disciplined.

Local 1473 already represents some 300 production workers at the plant.
