Music fest planned near Harvard shut down by police
HARVARD, ILL An event billed as Groovestock that was to take place June 22-24 on a wooded area near Harvard was shut down by police before it began, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.
The story noted a police statement of Groovestock described it as a weekend camping event for 1,000 people, with two stages and more than 40 DJs.
McHenry County Sheriff’s officers and Harvard police officers discovered the event and directed the promoter and crew to leave the premises.
Police said the property owner—a relative of the promoter—thought 20 family members were going to be camping there over the weekend and was unaware of the planned event.
No charges were filed.
