Darien’s Birds Eye workers to vote on union

DARIEN — A group of workers at Darien’s Birds Eye Foods Inc. plant will vote June 26 on whether to join the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, according to a story in the Business Journal.
Twenty-eight process control and quality assurance employees at the plant, located at W8880 County Highway X, would be represented by the UFCW Local 1473 if the vote passes.
Local 1473 already represents some 300 hourly production workers at the plant.
The process control and quality assurance workers want more equal treatment with union employees at the facility, more input in plant operations and the ability to voice job concerns without being disciplined.
