— The Project 16:49 initiative will receive a $5,000 AT&T Wisconsin Innovation and Investment Award at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at YWCA Rock County, 1735 S. Washington St.

Project 16:49 is led by the Homeless Education Action Team, which is a subcommittee of the Rock County Homeless Intervention Task Force. The task force plans to open a transitional living program to provide housing and case management services for 16- to 21-year-olds, allowing them to finish high school and learn adult responsibilities in a supportive environment.

YWCA Rock County, which at one time was the lead agency for the project, now serves as its fiscal agency.

The grant money will help provide transportation money to local homeless teens to get them to and from work and to other appointments. The money also will help buy gas cards and bus tokens.
