UPDATE: County worker killed in road maintenance accident

— A Walworth County Public Works Department employee died after being struck by a public works vehicle during a road repair project Monday morning, according to a news release from the Walworth County Administrator’s office.

The employee, whose name is not being released at this time, was part of a public works crew doing chip sealing on County Highway J in the Town of Troy when he was struck at 9:44 a.m. Monday

Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and Milwaukee Flight for Life responded, but the employee died at the scene, according to the release.

Among other responders were the Town of Troy Fire Department, the East Troy Area Rescue and the Village of Mukwonago Fire and Rescue.

The name of the driver of the vehicle also has not been released yet.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, assisted by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, is currently investigating the incident.
