— A 13-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was pulled unconscious from Geneva Lake Sunday, according to a release from the Geneva Lake Water Safety Patrol.

The incident happened at 4:03 p.m. at the Abbey Springs Association Beach in Fontana. An on-duty Water Safety Patrol lifeguard saw the girl jump into the water from a raft. The lifeguard reported the girl did not immediately surface after jumping in, but then floated to the surface face down and unconscious. The lifeguard then swam to the girl, pulled her to the pier and began CPR.

A Water Safety Patrol Boat crew assisted with resuscitation efforts and the girl did regain consciousness.

The Fontana Rescue Squad provided additional treatment and transported the girl to Mercy Walworth Hospital. She was later taken to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.

Her name is not being released at this time.
