Get a taste of 'Savory Sounds' in Whitewater

— The Whitewater Arts Alliance, in partnership with Quiet Hut Sports, Olm & Associates, First Citizens State Bank, Commercial Bank, Fairhaven Senior Services and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education is presenting a Savory Sounds Concert Series at the Birge Fountain in front of the Cultural Arts Center this summer.

The concerts run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in front of the Birge Fountain, 402 W. Main St. in Whitewater.

Remaining concerts are:

-- July 12 -- The Dirty Bucket Band playing bluegrass and other folk styles

-- July 19 -- UW-Whitewater Faculty Brass Quintet

-- July 26 -- Jay Craggs and friends playing jazz.

-- Aug. 2 -- Steve Meisner and Friends, polka favorites (rescheduled).

Attendees may bring their own lunch or order lunch from participating vendors while they enjoy music.

“Let the melody, aroma and the beauty of the day lure you to the Birge Fountain to meet and eat with friends, family, colleagues and the community,” said Christine Hayes, member of the Whitewater Arts Alliance Board of Directors and chair of Savory Sounds.

Vendors for the summer lunches are: Subway, Sweet Spot, La Preferida, The Black Sheep and Rocky Rococo Pizza.

After enjoying the music, attendees are invited to explore the exhibits at the Cultural Arts Center. July’s exhibit is the Fran Achen Photography Competition.

Parking is behind the building and on side streets, with an elevator available from the parking lot entrance.
