Walworth County resorts among state’s largest

— Three resorts in Walworth County are among the top 25 largest Wisconsin hotels and resorts—based on the number of rooms—according to a July 6 story in the Business Journal.

The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva ranks fifth. The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa in Fontana, is rated fourteenth. And Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan made the twentieth spot.

The Grand Geneva, which opened in 1994 and is owned by the Marcus Corp., has 578 room and 51 suites, plus 35 meeting rooms. Amenities listed in the article include two championship golf courses, indoor/outdoor pools, skiing, snowboarding, horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking.

The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa, opened in 1963. A year-round resort, it has 40,000 square feet of meeting space, a 407-slip marina and 334 rooms.

Lake Lawn Resort dates back to 1887 and is owned by Delavan Lake LLC. Since reopening last year, it’s grown to 271 rooms, and boasts an 18-hole golf course, a full-service spa, a 165-slip private marina and three pools.
