Bees hold off Beloit Snappers

BELOIT — The Beloit Snappers could not come back from a 5-0 deficit en route to a 5-3 loss to the visiting Burlington Bees in Midwest League baseball Sunday.

Burlington scored three runs on three hits, including a solo home run off Beloit starter David Hurlbut, in the third inning to gain a 4-0 lead and added a run in the fourth. Hurlbut (3-2) allowed all five runs—four earned—on seven hits through six innings to take the loss.

Beloit scored when Drew Leachman doubled home Miguel Sano and Jonathan Goncalves singled home Leachman in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 5-2. Adam Pettersen hit a two-out solo homer in the ninth for

Beloit’s final run.
