— With the summer warming up dramatically, the Delavan Rescue Squad is working in conjunction with the city of Delavan's Police Department during heat advisories to conduct health and welfare checks for those people who may be most affected by the high temperatures, according to a release from the Delavan Rescue Squad.

"Churches, family members or neighbors can call the police's non-emergency number to let officers know of someone they're concerned about," said Jim Gribben, dispatcher for the rescue squad.

Officers will in turn let the trained medical responders check on the individuals.

Only one request is needed to place individuals on a continual check during heat advisories, and all requests will be kept confidential. To request a welfare check during a heat advisory, call the City of Delavan Police Department's non-emergency number, (262) 728-6311.
