WALWORTH COUNTY In the midst of record-breaking temperatures in the triple digits and an excessive heat warning until 10 p.m. Friday, state health officials are urging people to drink plenty of fluids, avoid exertion, take breaks and stay inside, out of the heat. Those without air conditioning should seek relief in public buildings like libraries or shopping centers.
In Walworth County, try Sunset Park's swimming pool on Devendorf Street in Elkhorn for respite. Or head to these cooling centers, listed on readywisconsin.wi.gov as of July 4:
