Suspect sought in Delavan armed robbery
DELAVAN Delavan police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a bomb threat and armed robbery Monday.
The bomb threat was called in at 7:09 p.m. to Walmart, 1819 E. Geneva St., Police Chief Timothy O’Neill said.
Then, at 7:38 p.m., police were called to an armed robbery at Hooch Hut, 205 S. Wright St.
Police think the first call might have been made to distract officers.
The robber displayed what was described as a small handgun, and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, O’Neill said.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, khaki shorts and white-framed sunglasses with green lenses.
The bomb threat was called in from a phone booth at the Evergreen Mobile Mart, 746 E. Geneva St.
