— Arthur W. Hafferkamp, 85, of Sharon, has been identified as the second victim in a fatal two-car crash that occurred about 5:20 p.m. Friday on State Highway 11/81 east of Juda in Green County, according to a news release issued by the Green County Sheriff’s Department.

Hafferkamp was driving a 2000 Buick Park Avenue, traveling eastbound in the westbound lane on Highway 11/81, when his vehicle crashed head-on with a westbound 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Israel Lara, 37, of Monroe. Officials said Lara died at the scene.

WISC-TV in Madison reported Hafferkamp was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hafferkamp was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, and authorities said that both cars were traveling at or near highway speeds when the collision occurred, the TV station reported.

There were no passengers in either car, and both vehicles suffered extensive damage, according to officials.

The accident remains under investigation by the Green County Sheriff’s Department.
