— Earlier this month, a Village of East Troy police officer responded to call from a northside resident who wanted a snow blower removed from the northeast corner of his yard, according to a recent incident report from the Village of East Troy Police Department.

Why call the police? The problem, the resident explained to the officer, was that the snow blower wasn’t his — he’d noticed the machine days earlier when it simply appeared on his property. He had no idea who it belonged to. Neither, it turned out, did any of the neighbors the officer checked with.

A quick check of the blower’s serial number didn’t match it to any reports of stolen items, so the officer inventoried the machine and transported it to the public works building in East Troy.
