— Wesley Woods in Williams Bay recently joined as a host site of the Walworth County Emergency Homeless Shelter, a network of area churches and organizations that take turns using their buildings as a shelter for the homeless for 35 weeks during the winter. Besides providing a place to sleep, shelter volunteers help steer individuals to job training, education, counseling and even temporary housing. But a sluggish economy has taken its toll on more people, and Deb Weber, shelter coordinator, says additional organizations and volunteers are needed.

In a release, Weber noted the homeless shelter is looking for people to donate time and experience in a variety of areas, including hosting shelter sites, preparing meals and providing transportation. Those interested in volunteering or hosting a shelter site can call Weber at (262) 215-3451.

Those in need of shelter should call (262) 903-WARM (9276).
