Warhawk men fall in Nicolet title game
DE PERE UW-Whitewater men's basketball team came up short in its bid to win the Nicolet National Bank Tournament on Sunday night.
The cold-shooting Warhawks missed 15 of 21 three-point shots and fell to St. Norbert College, 66-55.
Sixth-ranked Whitewater (9-2) built a five-point lead early in the second half, but St. Norbert (8-3) outscored the Warhawks 44-28 the rest of the way.
Quardell Young had 21 points to lead Whitewater and Luke Knoble added 10.
Brandon Gries had 17 points to lead a balanced St. Norbert attack.
Whitewater returns to WIAC action Saturday at UW-River Falls.
