The third period continues to haunt the Janesville Bluebirds.

Trailing by a goal late in the second period Thursday, Janesville's high school co-op boys hockey team (2-8-0) gave up four third-period goals in an 8-3 nonconference loss to Waukesha.

"We cut the lead to one and were playing well, but then all of a sudden they got a couple of goals because they outhustled us to the puck," Janesville coach John Mauermann said. "That shouldn't happen.

"Waukesha's got a nice team, but if we continue to play hard for all three periods, we can play with them."

Connor Perkins, Mike Money and Clay Simonson scored Janesville's goals.

Janesville plays the Brookfield/Catholic Memorial co-op team at 4 p.m. today at Nagawaukee Rink.
