Milton teen charged in school burglary

JANESVILLE — A Milton boy has pleaded not guilty to charges that he broke into Milton High School in July and stole laptops, clothing and beverages.
Aaron M. Davis, 17, of 11625 N. Nelson St., Milton, on Dec. 17 pleaded not guilty to charges of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property, according to online court documents.
He is free on a $1,500 signature bond, according to online court documents. A jury trial is to be set, but no future court dates are scheduled.
Davis in August told police that in early July he climbed a tower and got onto the roof of Milton High School, 114 W. High St. He pushed in a window air conditioner and crawled into a classroom, according to the criminal complaint.
Davis and another person, whom he did not identify to police, took a black duffel bag and filled it with laptops and electronic scales. They then climbed onto tables and onto a balcony where they were able to access the school store, according to the complaint.
They took clothing and drinks from the store, according to the complaint.
Davis told police he immediately threw away the items.
If convicted, he faces 16 years in prison or fines of $45,000.
