— What’s blue and gold with a hefty dose of red?

It’s the Delavan-Darien High School east gymnasium with the University of

Wisconsin-Madison Varsity Band playing in it, of course.

More than 100 members of the UW Varsity Band will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, inside the D-D Dome, 150 Cummings St., Delavan. The concert is in support of the Delavan-Darien High School bands program. It is being sponsored by the DDHS Band Boosters.

General admission tickets (no assigned seating) are $10 each for the public, and $5 each for DDHS and Phoenix Middle School students. About1,200 tickets will be sold.

Two Delavan-Darien alumni are current UW Varsity Band members — Meghan Smith, class of 2012 (tuba) and Dan Clark, class of 2011 (trumpet). Also, DDHS art teacher Amanda Vogt is a UW Band alumni.

The UW Varsity Band, under the direction of Michael Leckrone, is known throughout the world for its outstanding performances at UW athletic events and concerts throughout the state and country. The band will be coming in fresh off its third-consecutive appearance at the New Year’s Day Rose Bowl and Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Ca., courtesy of the UW Badgers winning the Big Ten football championship.

Tickets for the UW Band concert at DDHS are being sold at the Piggly Wiggly stores in Delavan (1414 E. Geneva St.) and Lake Geneva (100 E. Geneva Square), Sentry Foods in Walworth (681 Kenosha St.), Breber Music in Elkhorn (801 E. Geneva St.), the Darien Town Hall (N2826 Foundary Road) and at DDHS.

A limited supply of tickets will be available. Doors to the concert will open at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
