Clinton man sentenced on drug charges
MADISON A drug investigation that took place last summer has resulted in prison time for two men from Clinton, according to a news release from the United States Department of Justice western district of Wisconsin.
Jose Espinoza, 30, Clinton, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for attempting to possess more than five kilograms of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Five kilograms is 11.4 pounds.
Espinoza pleaded guilty to the charge on Oct. 17.
Espinoza was arrested in July after attempting to buy about $23,000 of fake cocaine from an undercover officer, according to the news release.
Espinoza's brother, Johnny Espinoza, 31, also of Clinton, was arrested on the same charges. He is scheduled to go to trial in May 2013.
The charges against the men were the result of an investigation by 10 local, state and national law enforcement groups including the Beloit Police Department, the Stateline Area Narcotics Team and the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
