Sixth candidate to run for city council seat
JANESVILLE Julie Broda, 41, of 2719 Black Bridge Road, is the sixth person to seek election to one of four open seats on the Janesville City Council.
Broda listed her occupation on her declaration of candidacy papers as being in administration. She has not sought public office before.
Residents who want to run for council must pick up nomination papers from the city clerk's office, 18 N. Jackson St. They must gather no fewer than 200 signatures but not more than 400 signatures.
The papers must be returned to City Hall by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2.
The two-year terms of four incumbents will be open in April.
Incumbent Russ Steeber will not seek re-election. Incumbents Sam Liebert and DuWayne Severson are seeking re-election.
Incumbent Deb Dongarra-Adams has not announced her intentions.
Already circulating nomination papers are Brian Fitzgerald, Jerry Smythe and Sarah Carter.
