— The son of Sen. Neal Kedzie (R-Elkhorn), told Whitewater police detectives he didn’t want to continue an investigation into an assault he’d reported in October, according to a story in the Wisconsin Reporter.

Sean Kedzie had told police on the early morning hours of Oct. 19 two white men, both 6-foot tall and weighing about 185 pounds, had stolen a Romney-Ryan sign from his yard and when he confronted them, they attacked him, yelling “Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan suck!”

Kedzie later identified one of his alleged attackers, a University of Wisconsin-Whitewater soccer player, by tracking him through a Facebook page.

Police detectives checked out the student’s alibi and dismissed him as a suspect.

The story noted neighborhood witnesses told police they saw Kedzie being punched, but could not identify the men. Witnesses also said they did not hear the attackers say anything political.
