— As of Dec. 4, $99,486 in donations have been made to the Salvation Army’s holiday campaign.

That represents 30.6 percent of the $325,000 annual goal, according to a news release from the local church and social service agency.

Sources of the annual Christmas campaign include: red kettle donations, mail appeal solicitation and walk-in/mail-in donations.

Although this year’s campaign kicked off a week later than in 2011, daily totals through Dec. 4, continue to be comparable with those from 2011—$106,857 and 32.9 percent of goal, said Maj. Bob Fay.

Money raised during this time—Nov. 16 through Dec. 24—makes up one third of the Salvation Army’s total cash budget.

To date, 250 families have already signed up for various Christmas programs assistance.

To help, volunteer to ring bells by visiting www.janesvilleSA.org or by calling 608-757-8300; drop off new, unwrapped toys and gifts for distribution to those in need at 514 Sutherland Ave., and donate turkeys or hams to help fill Christmas food baskets.
