Warhawk men, women down La Crosse
LA CROSSE UW-Whitewater men's basketball team knocked host UW-La Crosse from the unbeaten ranks Wednesday with a 64-52 victory.
Whitewater, ranked No. 2 by D3hoops.com, is 6-0 overall, 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. La Crosse is 6-1 and 1-1.
The Warhawks lost the lead only once in the first half, trailing 15-13 at 13:55. Beloit graduate KJ Evans' layup at 12:14 remaining in the second half put Whitewater ahead, 47-37, and the Warhawks did not relinquish their double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Luke Noble scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the first half for Whitewater. Teammate Quardell Young added 11.
Warhawks host UW-Eau Claire 3 p.m. Saturday in Kachel Gym.

Mary Merg scored a game-high 15 points to lead five Whitewater players in double figures.
Whitewater hosts UW-Eau Claire at 5 p.m. Saturday.
