Walworth County Job Center offers supervisor workshops

— The next series of workshops for supervisors presented by the Walworth County Job Center will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Sept. 6 at the job center, 1000 E. Centralia St., on the Gateway Technical College campus in Elkhorn.

They are:

Leadership for Supervisors and Team Leads, Sept. 5. Leadership skills needed to inspire “followers” will be presented to help improve your skills and groom fellow employees for leadership positions.

Teamwork, Sept. 12. The ability for work groups to function as a cohesive, collaborative team is more crucial than ever for advancement and success. Discussion focuses on how a team can work together more effectively to accomplish its goals to help a company achieve success.

The Changing Workplace, Sept. 19. A discussion on today’s new trends in the workplace usually ensues in this workshop that will help you take advantage of wisdom and experience as well as youthful energy. Discussion looks at how the workforce is changing and how to deal with the needs of older and younger employees, from the Post-War generation to Gen Y, and get them to work together and form a stronger team.

Meaningful Performance Evaluations, Sept. 26. With today’s workforce geared toward a year-round “Performance Appraisal Process,” learn the best methods of giving and getting valuable feedback.

Introduction to Social Media, Oct. 3. It seems like almost everyone is taking advantage of social media on the Internet today, and this workshop will provide the basics of social media and how it impacts serach engine optimization. Learn three things your company can to do help customers find you on the Internet.

New Supervisors Workshop, Oct. 10. The first few days of being a new supervisor can be difficult. Learn what fellow works expect from you and get ideas to help establish yourself with team members. Make the transition to your new role easier and more effective.
