Planned Parenthood group schedules Janesville rally at Ryan's office
JANESVILLE Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin today will join a coalition of Wisconsin activists for a press event today at 4 p.m. in front of Rep. Paul Ryan's congressional office, 20 Main St., Janesville.
A release from Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin said the group is opposing Ryan as presidential candidate Mitt Romney's choice of vice presidential running mate because of Ryan's stance on issues involving women. The group cited Ryan's proposed federal budget that would overhaul Medicare and defund Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, cutting off preventive health services such as cervical and breast cancer screenings for millions of women.
They also noted Ryan's stance on stem cell research, and his proposed elimination of the Title 10 program, which would cut additional health care services for women.
