— A harp concert by Sarah Mullen will be held on Fri., Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Matheson Memorial Library, 101 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. The program is free and open to the public.

According to a release from the library, Mullen fell in love with the harp at 5 when a harpist visited her kindergarten class. It took seven years, and the organization of a neighborhood-wide garage sale, for her to raise the money to buy her first 19-string lap harp.

Mullen began studying the harp with Karen Stern, and later with Diane Michaels. Her interests in music began with Celtic harp and, in high school, expanded to include the concert harp. She also studied piano with Paul Nazzaro for 13 years.
