— Donna Pruess has won the Republican primary for Walworth County register of deeds.

Tuesday night's election was a three-way race between Bob Kordus, Toni Loftus and Pruess.

Pruess will advance to the Nov. 6 election against Democrat Sue Finster.

Whoever wins the November election will take over for Connie Woolever, who is not seeking re-election.

The winner's term will begin in January.

Pruess collected just more than 41 percent of the vote. Kordus was next with roughly 35.5 percent, and Loftus was last with 23 percent.

"I'm very happy about the outcome," Pruess said. "I'm glad I have the experience, and the people showed that experience counts."

Before the election, Pruess worked as the Walworth County real property lister, and her office was located within the register of deeds' office.

Her job was to keep ownership, assessment and tax information for more than 65,000 parcels.
