Officials say voter turnout was solid in Rock, Walworth counties

ELKHORN — The Republican primaries for district attorney and U.S. Senate pushed voter turnout in Walworth County to 18 percent of eligible voters. Rock County reported that 17.7 percent of its eligible voters went to the polls.
"Our turnout for this fall primary was slightly less than 2010, but is better than what we historically see," said Walworth County Clerk Kimberly Bushey. "We had a turnout of 21 percent in 2010, but turnout was as low as 12 percent in 2004 and 2006."
The Rock County turnout of eligible voters was about what Rock County Clerk Lori Stottler expected.
"I thought the Democratic primary for the 44th Assembly District in Janesville would drive turnout there a litter higher, but it didn't," Stottler said. 'That surprised me, but in the county overall, it was about what I expected."
Stottler said things went relatively smooth with just a few "communication errors."
Although it did not affected the outcome in the Democratic primary in the 45th Assembly district, a typo error in the city of Evansville required an adjustment that resulted in 378 fewer votes cast than originally reported.
