The 15th annual McGMO Golfing for Cancer Care event raised more than $54,000 to support cancer care at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.

It was the highest amount ever raised by the McGMO event, which took place July 27 at the Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan.

The McGMO golf outing was established in 1998 in memory of Dean McGregor, Ivan Grover, Calvin Monroe, who have lost their battle with cancer and Kim O'Keefe a courageous cancer survivor. The event raises funds to benefit cancer patients throughout Walworth County and surrounding communities by enhancing patient services, acquiring equipment and investing in new technology at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.

All proceeds from this year's event will help purchase three ERBE machines, used in gastrointestinal procedures such as colonoscopies.

"Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, golfers and volunteers, nearly $562,000 has been raised for local cancer services since the e vent's inception 15 years ago," said Mike Grover, one of the funding members of the McGMO.
