— Not a bad tune-up for next month's World Water Ski Show Tournament.

The Rock Aqua Jays won the National Water Ski Show Tournament on the Rock River in Janesville last weekend, their second title in a row and their 17th overall.

The Aqua Jays will host the international tournament Sept. 15 and 16 at Traxler Park.

The Rock Aqua Jays won the categories for dock and equipment crew, pick-up boat driving, towboat driving and sound crew. They also earned the top score in strap Doubles, barefoot (barefoot line) and five-high pyramid.

The Mad-City Ski Team finished second and the Backwater Gamblers of Rock Island, Ill. placed third. The Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team of Wonder Lake, Ill. was fourth and the Aquanut Water Shows of Twin Lakes was fifth.

The tournament featured 14 teams and more than 1,500 athletes competing for the coveted show ski national title.
