Support troops, have fun at Operation Ooh-Rah
BELOIT Catch great music, food, plenty of kids' activities and prizes at Operation Ooh-Rah's fundraiser, running from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sat., Aug. 11 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mead-Allen Post 2306, 2711 S. Afton Road in Beloit.
Operation Ooh-Rah, which gets its name from the U.S. Marines' cry, mails care packages overseas to military members overseas, giving first preference to local people.
Musical acts include Michael Powers, "American Idol" contestant, and area bands like Dynamite Society. Activities include an opening ceremony featuring a tribute to our troops at noon, a carnival, watermelon-eating contest, bike show and more.
Cost to the event is $5 or a care package item for the troops.
