Mercy plans seminar on concussions
JANESVILLE Every year, dozens of area adolescent athletes suffer from a concussion.
Even a mild concussion is a real brain injury that requires medical attention to prevent further problems. Mercy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center invites athletes, coaches and parents to know more about concussions and how the new Wisconsin law impacts young athletes.
Dr. Darin Rutherford, sports medicine doctor, will discuss concussions in a seminar at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15.
Items to be covered are the definition and causes of concussion, signs and symptoms, complications and post-concussion syndrome, post-concussion management, when it's safe to return to play, and how baseline testing and/or ImPACT testing can help.
This free seminar will be held at Mercy Clinic North, 3400 Deerfield Dr., Janesville.
Space is limited. To register, call (608) 756-6100 or toll-free at (888) 39-MERCY.
