Darien's National Night Out Aug. 7
DARIEN — As part of the police-community program National Night Out, Darien will hold its National Night Out event tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at West Park, located on US Highway 14 and North Road (335 W. Madison St.), Darien.
Featured demonstrators include the Rockford Shriners and their airplanes, a Flight for Life crew, and the Walworth County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit.
Other activities include face painting, small train rides, a pig roast and plenty of other free food.
Village of Darien Police Chief Hunter Gilmore said the event is coordinated by the village police department, sponsored by area businesses and assisted by the town of Darien EMS department and local fire department.
"It's a great opportunity to create a bond between the public and law enforcement and emergency personnel," Gilmore said. "Plus it's a great deal of fun."
