Snappers can't erase early deficit in loss

— Kane County took an early lead and defeated Beloit, 7-5, in Midwest League action Thursday at Pohlman Field.

The Cougars scored three times in both the second and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead.

Beloit made it 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh when Matt Koch scored on a passed ball.

Kane County answered with a run in the eighth, and the Snappers made it close with a fourth-run ninth.

Cougar reliever Mike Giovenco walked the first two batters, Koch and Tyler Grimes. J.D. Williams then singled loading the bases.

After a strikeout, Eddie Rosario singled, scoring Koch and Grimes making it, 7-3.

After a walk to Miguel Sano, Kennys Vargas singled in Williams and Rosario to bring the Snappers within two.

The teams conclude their four-game series with a 7 o'clock game today.
