— The Whitewater Police Department has concluded its part of the investigation into the death of a UW-Whitewater student from Edgerton whose body was found in a quarry just south of the city limits.

Whitewater investigators were looking into the discovery of 21-year-old Benjamin Fuder's cellphone. The phone was discovered on a residential lawn near the downtown area, said Whitewater Police Captain Brian Uhl.

Fuder's body was discovered below the quarry's north rim early Sunday morning. He was last seen in the downtown area shortly after midnight Saturday.

"We have interviewed the person who found the cellphone," Uhl said. "We have not been able to gather any information from that interview or our investigation that is helpful in determining what happened to the victim."

Uhl said his department has closed its part of the investigation and turned over the information it gathered to Walworth County investigators.

Walworth County Sheriff David Graves said Thursday he has no updates on the case to report.

"I do want to report that although we have uncovered nothing that would indicate foul play, we are continuing our investigation," Graves said.
